The Ultimate Guide to WaterSound Florida

WaterSound is a planned community on Florida’s Gulf Coast that you are going to hear a LOT about for years to come.

That’s because it’s Latitude Margaritaville’s third location, behind Daytona beach (1st location) and Hilton Head (2nd location).

While you may be hearing about Watersound for the first time because Latitude Margaritaville Watersound is putting it on the map, those who are “in the know” have been doing their best to keep this majestic part of Florida a secret for years.

I must say, I lived in Daytona Beach for over 30 years, and have visited Hilton Head multiple times, and of all the Latitude Margaritaville locations, Watersound feels more like the kind of place you hear about in a Jimmy Buffett. song, which makes sense since Jimmy grew up in a Gulf Coast state in Alabama.

This video gives you a good idea of how picturesque Watersound really is:

Where is Watersound Florida?

Watersound is located in the Florida Panhandle, just off Scenic Highway 30-A in the heart of South Walton County, about 17 miles northwest of Panama city beachand 30 miles east of Destin.

Here’s a map showing exactly where Watersound is located:

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) It is the closest airport (approximately 15 minutes).

Popular Watersound Restaurants

One of my favorite places to eat here is called Fish out of water. It is located inside the WaterColor Inn & Resort. I can personally vouch for the crab cakes and Caesar salad (pictured above), but this place is in the Golden Spoon Hall of Fame (Florida Trend Magazine Restaurant Awards) so I’m sure everything else is great too.

Another member of the Golden Spoon Hall of Fame is named Bud & Alley’s which has an incredible view from its Roof Deck Bar.

I’ve also heard good things about George is on Aly’s beach.

You should also make sure to check Airstream row. Just trust me!

Where to stay when visiting Watersound

When I was in town meeting executives from the Watersound St. Joe developer a few years ago, I was originally supposed to stay at the WaterColor Innbut the way it worked out with the dates of my visit ended up putting me in a full vacation rental condo.

The Watersound Inn is definitely another option, and The St. Joe Company has a good overview of other places to stay nearby.

Also, there are plenty of vacation rentals in VRBO Y Airbnb.
