Florida Food Stamp Calculator – InfoFlorida

The eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (also known as food stamps) are determined by the US Department of Agriculture at the federal level. However, individuals must apply through their own state. In Florida, the program is managed by the Florida Department of Children and Families. ACCESS Florida Program. Eligibility for food stamps depends on family size, income and resources (cash, bank account, etc.). Income includes work income. It also includes social security, unemployment and SSI benefits.

If you think you are eligible for Florida Food Assistance, you can use a pre-screening tool (also called a food stamp calculator) to determine if you qualify. Please note that the pre-screening tool is not an application of SNAP benefits. The Food Stamps program has many rules, and the calculator covers most of them, but not all of them. You need to apply to actually get the benefit and confirm the actual amount you are eligible for – because the actual amount you may be eligible for may be different from what the calculator tells you.

In Florida, the pre-screening tool (the ACCESS Florida Pre-screening Tool) is used to screen for the following:

  • Help buy food
  • Cash Assistance
  • Low or no cost healthcare
  • Help to pay Medicare premiums

Therefore, when you answer the questions asked, you will be screened for eligibility for food assistance, cash assistance, low-cost or free health care, and help you pay for Medicare premiums. You should take the time and answer the questions correctly and truthfully. You may only want to apply for Florida Food Stamps, but your family status may qualify you for other benefits.
